Office of The Vice President of The Ganbia has chaired a Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting to assess gravity of the ongoing Middle East crisis The Gambia’s economy and supply chains.
The committee, chaired by the Vice president Mohammed B.S Jallow, is examining stock levels of fuel, food, fertiliser, and medicine, especially as the rainy season approaches in The Gambia.
Key highlights:
- The government already subsidised D200 million in April to keep fuel prices down
- Strategic reserves are being assessed across all critical sectors
- Contingency plans are being developed similar to the government’s COVID-19 response
- Committee findings will be presented to Cabinet for further action
The government says its priority is to ensure every Gambian can access essential commodities without major disruptions.
